The short answer.
- Open Donki’s official homepage and choose Service → Coupon.
- Check the eligible subtotal and current conditions before expecting a discount.
- Recheck the tax-free procedure and live offer for your purchase date, especially around November 2026.
Where to get the official Donki coupon
Open Don Quijote’s official English homepage, then choose Coupon in its Service section. The operator’s link opens the current coupon screen; select English if it opens in another language. Bookmark the homepage before shopping. Removing the identifying part of a coupon URL can lead to a page that cannot issue a usable coupon, so follow the published link rather than editing it.
Checked on 8 October 2026: the official coupon offers 5% at ¥10,000 or 7% at ¥30,000 in qualifying tax-free purchases, excluding tax. Use the live terms and cashier’s eligible subtotal. We checked conditions, without testing a purchase.
Our link to Donki’s homepage is an official shopping resource. It does not earn Family Stay Japan a Donki commission. Separate accommodation and travel-service links on this site may be affiliate links; that does not turn a public shopping coupon into our own affiliate offer.

Read the eligible basket, not just the total on your receipt
Excluded goods do not count towards the coupon threshold: alcohol, tobacco, game consoles, non-taxable prepaid cards, price-restricted goods and individual items at ¥100,000 or more before tax. Some stores are excluded. No end date was displayed.
Build a short shopping list before visiting: presents to take home, items to use during the trip, and anything needing an eligibility check. Ask staff about an expensive or restricted item before counting it. A minimum displayed next to an offer answers only that offer’s question. Establish your own eligible basket before comparing the final bill.
| Basket | Coupon implication | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| ¥8,000 eligible goods + ¥5,000 excluded alcohol | The combined figure does not establish eligibility | Ask staff to identify the eligible subtotal |
| A smaller qualifying basket | Use the relevant live offer | Keep your original shopping list beside the calculation |
| A larger qualifying basket | Calculate the complete bill | Compare with the smaller basket before adding goods |
| Snacks intended for the hotel tonight | Do not treat immediate consumption as export shopping | Keep take-home shopping separate |

How much do 5% and 7% actually save?
Our calculation uses a chosen pre-tax base and an assumed coupon rate for a wholly eligible October basket. A 10% tax-inclusive price is the base multiplied by 1.10; removing that tax means dividing by 1.10. Applying an assumed 7% coupon means multiplying the eligible base by 0.93. These are independent worked examples with no extra fees or rounding differences. Check the actual eligible subtotal and calculation at the till.
For a standard-rate ¥11,000 shelf-price example, the pre-tax base is ¥10,000. Our assumed 5% discount gives ¥9,500, about 13.6% less than ¥11,000. For a standard-rate ¥33,000 example, the base is ¥30,000; an assumed 7% gives ¥27,900, about 15.5% less than ¥33,000. Keep the scenario inputs consistent with the applicable offer; a percentage in a worked example cannot establish eligibility.
Most qualifying takeaway food uses the reduced 8% consumption-tax rate, whereas the standard rate is 10%. A mixed snack-and-cosmetic basket therefore needs item-level tax treatment. A single divide-by-1.10 shortcut for every item can overstate the tax saving. Treat our examples as arithmetic, not a promise about your receipt or a post-November refund amount.

Avoid buying extra goods just to unlock a larger percentage
Consider a hypothetical family with ¥28,000 of eligible goods. At 5%, its goods cost ¥26,600 before any unrelated charges. Increasing the basket to ¥30,000 and qualifying for 7% would give ¥27,900. The larger percentage still costs ¥1,300 more. It is useful only if the additional products are worth that amount to the family.
Near a threshold, calculate both complete baskets rather than assuming every extra purchase is wasteful or every higher tier is a bargain. For example, ¥29,900 at 5% is ¥28,405, while ¥30,000 at 7% is ¥27,900 under the same hypothetical assumptions. Eligibility and the live till calculation still need confirmation. Start with things you intended to buy, and include luggage capacity, airline baggage costs and the effort of carrying purchases back to your hotel in the decision.
Use the live screen before payment
Show the live coupon at payment and follow staff-directed screen steps. Screenshots and retrospective discounts are unavailable. Each coupon covers one qualifying transaction, without stacking other discounts, services or majica.
Arrange the practical details before joining the queue: enough phone battery, working internet, a reachable passport, and agreement on which shopping is going home. Bookmark the official entry page for a fresh visit. If the screen fails, ask staff what to do before completing your purchase. Decide in advance whether you would still want the goods at the ordinary final price.
For a family, one adult can concentrate on the checkout while another manages children and bags. Choose the branch around your existing route and return journey; a coupon saving can disappear in an unnecessary cross-city shopping trip. Check that branch’s tax-free service and opening hours on Donki’s own store information.

Until 31 October: separate souvenirs from things you will use in Japan
For ordinary foreign tourists, Donki lists non-residents with Temporary Visitor status who entered Japan less than six months ago. Bring the original passport; payment names must match where applicable. The minimum is ¥5,000 before tax at the same store on one day. Consumables have packaging and use restrictions, and tax-free goods must leave Japan. Separate travellers’ purchases cannot be pooled under one representative’s passport.
Keep snacks for tonight’s apartment breakfast, opened cosmetics and other trip supplies separate from the goods you plan to export. Agree that distinction before the checkout, especially when children choose both immediate snacks and gifts. Do not hide a mismatch by putting every item into one souvenir bag. Keep the shopping documents accessible in your departure folder.
Reserve one suitcase area for take-home goods and a separate place for things you can use now. Check your room’s usable storage before planning a large purchase. This packing suggestion does not imply that your room provides lockable shopping storage.

From 1 November 2026: budget for payment first and refund later
For purchases from 1 November 2026, Japan’s official guidance changes to tax-inclusive payment and departure confirmation within 90 days of purchase. The shop or its refund provider returns the tax after customs confirmation. Check Donki’s future live coupon and refund instructions; this October review does not establish its November calculation or refund method.
Complete the departure procedure before airline baggage check-in, keeping purchases accessible. A missing item can make its whole transaction ineligible. Special consumable packaging ends, but goods consumed in Japan still cannot qualify for an export-related refund. If an inspection is required, follow the instructions and present your purchases.
Add shopping to the family’s airport checklist before handing bags over. Keep records organised by purchase date: the change follows when you buy, rather than simply your flight date. Plan accessible luggage and time for any inspection. An airport shopping task needs a clear owner, just like passports and boarding documents.

Questions families ask.
Is tax-free plus 7% a flat 17% discount?
No. In an illustrative October transaction with standard 10% tax and a fully eligible ¥30,000 pre-tax basket, ¥33,000 becomes ¥27,900 after tax exemption and 7% off. That is approximately 15.5% less than the tax-inclusive price.
Should I buy more just to reach a larger discount?
Compare the full costs of both baskets. A higher percentage can still cost more overall. Our worked examples use chosen inputs; replace them with the products and live conditions that apply to you.
Does this site earn money when I use the Donki coupon?
No Donki commission applies to our official homepage resource link. Other clearly disclosed hotel or travel-service affiliate links may earn this site a commission.
How can shopping fit around our family hotel stay?
Start with the route you already plan to take, the room’s usable storage and the luggage space you have. Assign someone to organise take-home purchases and documents, while keeping everyday hotel supplies easy to reach.
