The short answer.
- Crib rental, a bed guard and bed-sharing permission require separate answers.
- Give the child’s exact age and secure essential limited equipment for your dates.
- Check the prepared room layout and distinguish shared facilities from in-room equipment.

A baby-friendly description is the start of the inquiry
When booking a Tokyo hotel with a baby, first establish two things: the reservation accepts your full party, and the property can provide the arrangement you intend to use. A family room’s adult capacity does not confirm a crib. A hotel offering cribs does not confirm one for your dates, chosen room or child’s age.
Write the baby’s age at check-in in months, alongside the adults and older children. Then specify a crib request, a bed guard or permission to share existing bedding. The examples below use official information checked on 5 October 2026.
Use the item name, rather than “extra bedding”
Crib and cot can be used differently in booking interfaces, so describe the item you mean. Request a baby crib and ask the hotel to identify its model or dimensions. “Cot” might otherwise be understood as another temporary bed. A bed guard is an accessory for a bed; it does not add another sleeping place.
Bed-sharing permission concerns occupancy and charging rules. Keep it separate from an equipment request. A baby staying without a separate bed charge still needs confirmation of the requested crib and its effect on the booking.
| Request | What the hotel needs to confirm | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Baby crib / baby cot | Exact item, eligibility, dates, charge and room placement | Automatic allocation merely because the hotel lists cribs |
| Bed guard | Accessory type, age or size limits, and compatibility with the chosen bed | A separate bed or a substitute equipment booking |
| Share existing bedding | Permission for the child and the selected room/rate | Extra bedding, a crib or included child amenities |
Compare the rental status before comparing room rates
MIMARU Tokyo Ueno East’s property page offers free crib and bed-guard rentals, subject to limited availability, and asks guests to contact the property ahead. &Here TOKYO UENO separately lists cribs and bed guards as limited items to reserve in advance; the crib loan is free. Specify the actual accessory you need.
MONday Apart Premium Ueno Okachimachi places baby cribs and futons under paid rentals. Its page also warns that rental stock is limited. Ask about the full-stay arrangement and total charge instead of assuming a loan lasts until departure. These are published provisions, not confirmations for any particular reservation.

Give the exact age, especially near a birthday
The Japanese MIMARU FAQ restricts crib rental to under-twos; the English age wording is less precise. At the second birthday boundary, ask the property directly.
An age limit for a crib is a different rule from the age at which a child can share existing hotel bedding without a separate charge. Ask about both only when both are relevant. A bed guard may have its own limit as well. Do not transfer the condition for one item to another.
The &Here and MONday pages checked here do not give a clear crib age-and-size limit. Supply the child’s age and any measurements requested. A blank policy field does not mean unrestricted use. If the trip crosses a birthday, give the dates and explain the change.

Check where the equipment fits and which facilities are shared
Ask for the selected room’s floor plan and proposed crib position. Review the route from the entrance to the bathroom with the adult beds, any sofa bed and the crib prepared. A photograph taken before equipment is added does not answer that question. Record whether a stroller must be folded and where suitcases can go; ask instead of deriving those dimensions from total room area.
karaksa hotel TOKYO STATION lists a second-floor nursing room with a changing table and baby bath, available free to hotel guests around the clock. Confirm how you may use the equipment.
That shared facility is distinct from the room bathroom: its Family Quadruple lists a shower booth. &Here’s Deluxe Family Bunk lists a separate bath, toilet and washbasin. If bathing facilities affect your choice, confirm the setup for the category you are buying and any item you need in the room.

Work through one arrival evening before choosing the room
Hypothetical example: two adults and a ten-month-old arrive for four nights. Their deciding requirement is a confirmed crib. They shortlist two suitable rooms, provide the full party details and ask both properties to confirm the item and its position. A quote with a pending crib request remains unresolved; a reply identifying the allocation completes that comparison.
Next, the family describes arrival time and asks when the room and crib can be used. A morning arrival should not be treated as access to an afternoon reservation. If the room is unavailable until check-in, decide how the family will spend that interval using facilities the hotel actually permits. Keep the first evening’s plan achievable without a shopping trip or an unconfirmed appliance.
If an older sibling also travels, recheck occupancy, prepared beds and space with the crib added. The original reply for two adults and one baby cannot establish the new party. The exercise should produce a usable room arrangement.
Match feeding, bathing and laundry to the room you reserve
Describe practical appliance needs without asking the hotel to infer them from “travelling with a baby.” If you need refrigerated storage, a kettle, a microwave or washing-up supplies, name each item and ask whether it is in the room. A shared appliance adds a trip out of the room; choose whether that works for your daily routine. Follow your existing feeding instructions when deciding what equipment is necessary.
&Here directs guests with children still in diapers to use the room bath rather than its communal bath, and says baby baths and bath chairs are unavailable there. Keep that hotel-specific rule in your plan.
For laundry, establish the machine location and whether it dries as well as washes. Plan when an adult can use it. List supplies and children’s amenities you will bring: a loan inventory is not a complete packing list, and an occupancy allowance does not establish included towels or extras.

Keep a confirmed request with the reservation
Send a concise message: “For [dates], our party is [adults and all children, with ages at check-in]. We are considering [exact room category]. Can you confirm one baby crib for a child aged [months], identify its age/size limit and charge, and tell us where it will be placed? Will it be available for every night? We expect to arrive at [time].” Add a separate question for any essential accessory.
Keep the reply and distinguish “request received” from “item reserved.” If the property cannot confirm a requirement essential to your booking, decide on another verified arrangement before committing to a restrictive rate. Reconfirm when dates or the room change. At check-in, compare the prepared room with the agreed booking and ask staff to resolve any missing item before relying on it.
Questions families ask.
Does selecting an infant in the booking form reserve a crib?
Treat guest registration and equipment allocation as separate steps. Request the specific item and obtain a reply confirming it for the selected room and dates. “Infant included” does not explain what equipment will be prepared.
Can a bed guard be requested instead of a baby crib?
They are different items. Specify the arrangement you intend to use and ask the hotel about the exact accessory, eligibility and compatible bed. Do not assume a crib request or age rule covers a bed guard.
What should I do if the hotel only says the crib is subject to availability?
If a confirmed crib is essential, keep the room unresolved until the property confirms it or you choose another arrangement that meets your requirements. Check your rate’s change and cancellation terms while comparing alternatives.
